The Eddy was a foundational part of revitalizing the village of Saxapahaw, and was created with the intention of providing a comfortable space with good food for community interaction in a central place, much like many of the village pubs in England. We desired a place where everyone felt welcome, where connection with our neighbors and our food was encouraged, and where Saxapahaw could essentially invite everyone into its “living room.” And so The Eddy came to be!

Set in the former Dye Lab of the old mill overlooking the Haw River and an a famously endless sky of sunsets, our space was designed with a past, present and future in mind to forever root our work in our community and allow you to feel connected to what is important to us.

Our physical space has been built with as many reuse items as we could including many parts of the old textile mill. We have introduced more sustainable energy systems and normalized many environmentally sustainable practices so that we may have something healthy to pass along to generations to come. And we work to honor the present by giving everyone a feeling of belonging when they walk in our door, the space to breath easier while taking in the spectacular views, and the comfort of a good meal served by and surrounded by happy people.

Our food and our people are as real as it gets. We choose to go the extra step and connect with and support our local farmers, and many times you will see them dining in the resturant - they truly are our celebrities. We choose to invest in our local economies this way as it directly impacts our community, and it’s the same for local nutrients and health. We do everything we can to bring you the sustainably, locally, humanely, and healthily raised products…there are times we can’t and we are transparent about that part too. These decisions we make we feel directly impacts our health, and since day one, we have been dedicated to these choices.

Back in 2008 when we started real work on this dream, we imagined a small pub in rural Alamance County that served a few great local dishes, and in 2010 when we opened we were blown away by the local support from the beginning and throughout our existance. We couldn’t have known then what we know now, that our mission could work, and that we could fully prove that good food eaten in a comfortable place makes us happier people!
